Job summary

MaineGuide is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with diverse needs in daily activities and community engagement. Flexible full-time and part-time roles with starting pay of $22/hour. Mileage reimbursement and paid training are provided as you grow professionally within the agency.

Typical shifts run between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends; overtime is available. Travel between clients is compensated at the hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate clearly and empathetically.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
• Support social engagement and community participation to build confidence and independence.
• Follow care plans and engage with the care team and natural supports.
• Document activities, progress on goals, and support needs in the EVV app.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment with infection control and light housekeeping.
• Attend trainings and supervision as requested by supervisor.
• Be creative, engaging, and help clients have new experiences.
• Transport clients in own vehicle; mileage reimbursement provided.

Our schedules are flexible, starting pay is$22/hour, we offer paid training and mileage reimbursement as well as an hourly rate for travel between clients.

We DO NOT have overnights, double/block shifts or late-night hours. Most hours available are between 8am and 6pm, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend hours as available. We do not limit overtime for staff .

OPENINGS

Full Time=35-40 hours weekly, Part Time =20-28 hours weekly

Bar Harbor- 1 full time opening

Winter Harbor- 1 Part Time opening

Bangor/Orono- 2-3 part time openings or 1 full time and 1or 2 part time openings

Brunswick/Topsham/Freeport- 1 full time or 2 part time openings

Gray- 1 full time opening

Portland- 2 full time openings

York/Kittery/Wells- 1 full time Opening

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Assist clients with engaging with peers in the community, finding interests and hobbies, forming natural relationships and supports while gaining confidence and independence within their local communities
• Follow carefully constructed care plans, actively work on identified goals and engage with the client's care team and natural supports.
• Document all activities, progress on goals, level of support needed, and other relevant information each shift on our EVV app - Wellsky Personal Care
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control procedures and assisting with light housekeeping tasks
• Attend and participate in all assigned supervisions and trainings as requested by your supervisor
• Be ready to engage with clients, be creative, have fun and enjoy making memories and having new experiences
• Having a passion or love of teaching and learning or showing others how to do something is helpful
• Transporting clients in your own vehicle is required- mileage reimbursement is offered.

Requirements

• 1 year or more experience as a DSP is preferred- No Experience? Driven to Learn? That's ok- training is provided and paid.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs,
• Be able to walk, hike, swim- love of the outdoors
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required or obtainable during paid training
• Strong communication skills- ability to speak and write fluently in English
• Must excel at communicating over text, email and phone
• own and use a smart phone
• have access to reliable Internet
• comfortable using technology and documentation apps
• be dependable, punctual and consistent
• Valid Maine Drivers License
• Own a Vehicle that is inspected and insured
• Pass driving, criminal and DHHS background checks
• Provide 3 professional references

Training is provided and paid at an hourly rate! So you can "earn while you learn" before starting your career.

As an agency we recognize and respect that travel is expensive and make every effort to make meetings and trainings as available online or over zoom as possible.

Most staff who want full time hours work as both a DSP and BHP to be able to make the most of their working day. This is an option we encourage applicants to ask about and explore if interested.

• If selected for an interview - what are some days and time that you would be available to meet with the team on zoom ?
• As stated in the Ad - our agency does not offer overnights, late night/ second shifts, or block shifts.... With that information - please let us know what days and time you will be consistently available to work ?
• This position is similar to home health or visiting nurses- meaning that most staff see more than one client in a day- usually 2 or 3 depending on their availability- Are you able to fulfill this particular requirement of the position? Travel between clients is paid at your hourly rate and is not eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
