Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is hiring a Direct Support Professional to help individuals pursue their goals through person-centered care in a supportive community setting.

You will build meaningful relationships, assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and document care as part of a collaborative team. Training is provided; a valid driver’s license and DHS background check are required.

Qualifications

• Genuine heart for helping others and support through person-centered care.
• No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
• Basic computer use to document care and stay connected with the team.
• Ability to read and write in English for clear communication.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; pass Motor Vehicle Check.
• Ability to pass DHS background check; ensures a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for the rights, needs, and preferences of people served.
• Monitor health and well‑being and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
• Work in a residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs.
• Collaborate with a mission‑driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
