Job summary

Sunbreak Society in Oregon is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Level 2 to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence and improving quality of life through daily living support and compassionate care.

Ideal candidates are patient, reliable, and able to work with families and healthcare teams. OIS certification is required or can be certified, and evening/weekend availability is expected. Location options include Dundee and McMinnville, Oregon.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Must pass background check and have a valid driver's license in some roles.
• Current OIS Training required or can be certified by us.

Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. As a DSP 'Level 2', you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs, promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for those in your care. Strong fits for this potion will be individuals who are active collaborators and have previous lived or professional experience supporting youth who exhibit challenging and complex behavior. This position requires a strong commitment to ensuring the well-being, safety, and empowerment of those you serve.

Locations:

We are looking for staff to support one of two specific clients in Dundee and McMinnville Oregon locations that both have exceptional support needs, and as such offering a starting rate up to $27/hr if the candidate holds a current OIS certification and has experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Follow behavior support plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering positive relationships and enhancing their quality of life.
• Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
• Ensure the safety and security of clients in all activities, including during transportation and outings.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, client progress, and any incidents or changes in client status.
• Collaborate with the client’s family, support team, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field of support services.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in direct care, healthcare, or a similar field is a plus, but not required.
• Must be patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for certain positions.
• (Required) Demonstrated prior experience supporting individuals with challenging and/or complex behavior
• (Required) Current OIS (Oregon Intervention System) Training – Required (we can certify)
• (Required) Evening and Weekend availability (schedules planning in advance, NOT on-call)
