Job summary

Sunbreak Society is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 to support individuals with developmental disabilities or other special needs in the La Pine, OR area. You will promote independence, safety, and empowerment while working with a dedicated behavior team and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required, healthcare/direct care experience is a plus.
• Must be patient, empathetic and passionate about helping others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal prep, and medication management.
• Follow behavior support plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
• Encourage and support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
• Ensure safety and security of clients during activities, including transportation and outings.
• Maintain accurate records of services, client progress, incidents or changes.
• Collaborate with families, support teams, and healthcare providers.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices.
