Job summary

Sunbreak Society is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1 to join our team in the Greater Portland Metro area. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence and improving quality of life while aligning with our client advocacy approach.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in direct care is a plus but not required.
Candidates must be patient, empathetic and caring.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team.
Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
Must pass background check.
Valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care and meal prep.
Medication management following prescriptions and guidance.
Follow behavior support plans and maintain safety.
Provide companionship and emotional support.
Encourage development of life skills and goals.
Ensure safety during transportation and outings.
Maintain accurate records of services and client progress.
Collaborate with families and healthcare providers for coordinated care.
Participate in training and professional development.
