Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Bloomington to support individuals through person-centered care. The role focuses on building relationships and helping with daily living activities in a residential setting.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour, with a potential raise to $17.50 after six months of consistent employment. Shifts include days, afternoons, and every other weekend, with extensive team support and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
• Comfort with basic computer use for documentation and team communication.
• Ability to read and write in English for clear communication.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Capability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships and provide guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for rights and preferences of individuals with identified needs.
• Monitor health, report changes, and participate in training and meetings.
• Work in a residential group home serving up to 4 people with identified needs.

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference every day? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you'll support people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through personcentered care.

Pay:

• $17.00/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50/hr!

Shifts:

• Days
• Afternoons
• Every other weekend

What You'll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people with identified needs' rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and wellbeing and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings
• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
• Collaborative, missiondriven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion
