Job summary

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA, seeks a PBX Chief Operator to direct the PBX staff and operations at our communications hub, supporting safety and efficiency.

You will supervise, hire, train, and evaluate staff, manage emergencies, and coordinate with ISSD. Evening and night shifts carry a differential; on-site work three days a week may qualify for a 5% premium. Shift: Mon–Fri 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM.

Qualifications

• Two years of PBX operator or PBX Security Communications Operator experience.
• Knowledge of supervisory concepts and personnel management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct all PBX staff including hiring, training and evaluations.
• Write/perform performance evaluations on PBX operators.
• Complete Daily Activity Report for timekeeping of PBX operators.
• Disseminate all emergency (STAT) calls related to medical, behavior, fire and disaster.
• Monitor office equipment for maintenance and repair needs.
• Monitor campus-wide fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
• Engage in customer service and public relations for callers, visitors, employees, and clients.
• Coordinate problems with ISSD affecting switchboard/phone lines.

DSHS Lakeland Village PBX Chief Operator

DSHS's Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) is seeking a PBX Chief Operator to join our dedicated team at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA.

In this position, you'll direct and supervise the PBX Staff and operations at our communications hub. You’ll be the key connection between various departments, security personnel, and critical response teams, playing an essential role in maintaining safety and efficiency.

Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Opportunities performed on site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

The shift for this position is: Monday – Friday 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM

Some of what you will do:

• Supervise and direct all PBX staff to include: hiring, training and evaluating staff in proper operation/compliance of all DSHS, DDA, Lakeland Village and accompanying procedures
• Write/perform performance evaluations on PBX operators
• Complete Daily Activity Report for timekeeping of PBX operators
• Disseminate all emergency (STAT) calls related to medical, behavior, fire and disaster
• Monitor office equipment for needed maintenance, repair/replacement
• Monitor campus wide Simplex/Grinnell multi-panel fire alarm and fire suppression system
• Engage in customer service and public relations for callers, visitors, employees and clients
• Coordinate problems with ISSD that effect operations of switchboard/phone lines

Who should apply?

Professionals that have:

• At least two years of experience as PBX operator or PBX Security Communications Operator
• Have working knowledge of supervisory concepts/principles in the managing of personnel, effective verbal/non-verbal communication, and state resources/equipment
• Skilled use of computers and Microsoft programs: Word, Access, Outlook and Excel
• Able to type 32 wpm

AND graduated from high school or hold GED equivalency.

• Experience in managing crisis and de-escalating dangerous situations
• Knowledge of hospital, state, and federal regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
• Previous experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting
• Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
• Proficiency in operating equipment such as computers, copy machines, digital radios, fire panels, and switchboards
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to resolve conflicts in a non-threatening manner
