Description

Our Maintenance and Operations Division is looking to add an experienced Boiler Operator (Stationary Engineer 2) to join our team of dedicated professionals at in Shoreline, WA. As a Stationary Engineer 2, you\'ll perform skilled engineering and repair work related to boiler and HVAC operations. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for our residents and staff. This is for hands-on operators of steam generators (also known as steam boilers, marine boilers, or hydronic heating boilers). You\'ll be working directly with high-pressure steam systems, utilizing advanced combustion control systems such as Cleaver-Brooks HAWK, Allen Bradley, Fireye, Metasys, and similar platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of a high-pressure steam plant with two high-pressure steam boilers (natural gas with #2 diesel backup)
  • Operate, monitor, and repair gauges, valves, metering pumps, boilers, electronic controls, and safety equipment for continuous operation
  • Work with auxiliary systems: feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, deaerators, air compressors, fuel oil pumps, chemical treatment pumps, pneumatic and hand tools, and emergency generator
  • Inspect, monitor and repair internal mechanical heating rooms in individual buildings
  • Repair steam infrastructure across 68-acre campus
  • With HVAC systems, knowledge of work and repair for DOAS systems and Citygate and Samsung VRF systems
  • Troubleshoot and make major and minor adjustments to boiler and HVAC equipment
  • Interpret schematics, drawings, and manuals for equipment operation and upgrades
  • Operate and adjust combustion management systems (Cleaver-Brooks HAWK, Allen Bradley, Fireye, Metasys, etc.)
  • Test boiler room equipment for safety, perform chemical treatment and cleaning of boiler water, condensate, and lubricate mechanical room equipment
  • Conduct blow-down operations as needed for safe operation
  • Respond to after-hours and weekend incidents as the on-site maintenance expert, evaluating situations and providing updates to the Facilities Manager or designee
Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of stationary (or marine) high-pressure boilers and heating systems
  • Certificate of completion of an advanced Stationary Engineer course from an accredited vocational/technical school or community college, and two years of related experience
  • Or one year of State service as a Stationary Engineer
  • Or an approved HVAC journeyman license, approved apprentice program, or 4 years of work with an HVAC company in the repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of a variable refrigerant flow system and a dedicated outside air system
