Job summary

DSHS Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center in Shoreline, WA seeks an Attendant Counselor 3 to lead care teams in a residential setting. You will coach staff, deliver daily living, behavioral, and social-emotional support, and ensure care aligns with each resident’s Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED AND two years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Or, High school graduation or GED AND two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class.

Responsibilities

• As shift charge, coach staff and ensure care per each resident's IHP.
• Communicate care issues and environmental information promptly.
• Provide feedback to Attendant Counselor Manager for PDP input.
• Train residents in self-care to promote independence.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition or behavior.
• Supervise residents during activities and travel for health and safety.
• Assist with resident medical and behavioral emergencies.
• Guide staff in PPE use and infection control procedures.

With the main focus of providing support, guidance, and care for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

In this role, you will serve as shift charge in our Intermediate Care Facility and will provide leadership and instruction to employees in the provision of daily living activities, behavioral, social-emotional, and recreational support for the residents.

Some of what you'll do:

• As a shift charge, you'll give verbal and written feedback/coaching, monitor employees, and ensure that care is provided according to each residents’ Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP).
• Ensure care issues, environmental and other pertinent information is communicated timely and to appropriate people.
• Provide the necessary feedback toAttendant Counselor Managerfor Resident Personal Development Plan input.
• Train and assist residents in their own self-care including bathing, dressing, laundry, household skills, and financial management by promoting residents’ independence.
• Observe, document and report changes in each residents’ physical/mental condition or unusual behaviors.
• Accompany and supervise residents ensuring health and safety of the residents to/from and during activities, community events, appointments, eating, and shopping, etc.
• Assist with any resident medical and behavioral emergencies.
• Responsible for guiding employees and others in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and in following all infection control policies and procedures.

Additional information:

• King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
• Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
• Evening and night shifts include a shift differential, in addition to the standard compensation rate.
