Job summary

DSHS Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center seeks an Attendant Counselor 3 to lead daily care activities for residents with developmental disabilities. You will guide staff, coach on care plans, and ensure adherence to Individual Habilitation Plans while maintaining residents’ safety during community activities.

The role requires strong communication and leadership, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in a residential setting near Shoreline, WA.

Responsibilities

• As a shift charge, provide verbal and written feedback and coaching to staff.
• Ensure care is provided per each resident's IHP and report changes promptly.
• Train residents in self-care, including daily living activities and financial management.
• Observe and document changes in residents' condition and behaviors.
• Escort and supervise residents during activities, appointments, and community outings.
• Assist with medical or behavioral emergencies as needed.
• Promote infection control and proper use of PPE.

With the main focus of providing support, guidance, and care for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

In this role, you will serve as shift charge in our Intermediate Care Facility and will provide leadership and instruction to employees in the provision of daily living activities, behavioral, social-emotional, and recreational support for the residents.

Some of what you'll do:

• As a shift charge, you'll give verbal and written feedback/coaching, monitor employees, and ensure that care is provided according to each residents’ Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP).
• Ensure care issues, environmental and other pertinent information is communicated timely and to appropriate people.
• Provide the necessary feedback toAttendant Counselor Managerfor Resident Personal Development Plan input.
• Train and assist residents in their own self-care including bathing, dressing, laundry, household skills, and financial management by promoting residents’ independence.
• Observe, document and report changes in each residents’ physical/mental condition or unusual behaviors.
• Accompany and supervise residents ensuring health and safety of the residents to/from and during activities, community events, appointments, eating, and shopping, etc.
• Assist with any resident medical and behavioral emergencies.
• Responsible for guiding employees and others in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and in following all infection control policies and procedures.

Who should apply?

Professionals who have:

High school diploma or GED AND two years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

Or, High school graduation or GED AND two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class.

Additional information:

• King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
• Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
• Evening and night shifts include a shift differential, in addition to the standard compensation rate.
