Job summary

Holtec in Camden, NJ is hiring a DSA Engineer II to develop and perform deterministic safety analyses for the SMR-300. You will evaluate AOOs and DBAs, analyze reactor core behavior and containment, and support licensing with rigorous technical documentation.

The role requires a 3+ year background in LWR safety analysis, familiarity with RELAP5/RETRAN/COBRA/VIPRE/GOTHIC, and strong technical writing. Hybrid work options are available with standard benefits.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in nuclear or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors (LWRs).
  • Familiarity with industry codes such as RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, VIPRE, GOTHIC.
  • At least 3 years of experience with LWR safety analysis calculations.
  • Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform deterministic safety analyses to meet safety and licensing requirements.
  • Evaluate reactor behavior during AOOs and DBAs, including thermal-hydraulic response and radiological consequences.
  • Analyze systems such as the reactor core, RCS, engineered safety features, and containment.
  • Support licensing documentation and responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Develop, maintain, and apply analytical methods and computer models used in safety analyses.
  • Perform verification and validation of analysis codes for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design inputs into safety evaluations.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and calculations following NQA-1 standards.
  • Ensure analyses are traceable, reproducible, and compliant with requirements.
