Job summary

Stancil Services is seeking a skilled Drywall/Paint Field Technician to install, finish, and repair drywall for residential and commercial projects. This hands-on role emphasizes quality workmanship, safety, and clear communication with field managers.

You will measure, cut, prepare surfaces, apply compounds, and paint using brushes, rollers, or sprayers, with scaffold setup and site cleanup as standard duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade certification accepted.
  • 2–3 years of drywall/painting experience in construction.
  • Valid driver’s license for 3+ years and insurable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and finish drywall in residential and commercial environments.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning and sanding.
  • Apply paint, stains, or coatings using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain clean, organized job sites.
  • Communicate project status with field managers and customers.
  • Transport tools and materials between sites as needed.

Job description

The Drywall/Paint Field Technician plays a vital role in delivering that promise by performing expert drywall installation, surface preparation, and painting applications for residential and commercial projects.This position is hands-on and detail-driven, requiring a skilled craftsperson who takes pride in quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, and upholds Stancil’s commitment to exceptional customer service.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNoneESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSInstall, repair, and finish drywall in residential and commercial environments.Measure, cut, and fit drywall panels to exact dimensions around windows, doors, electrical outlets, and other architectural features.Apply drywall compounds to cover joints, screws, and imperfections; sand and tape surfaces to achieve a seamless finish.Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and removing previous finishes.Apply paint, stains, or coatings to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other tools.Create textured or specialty finishes as requested by the project scope.Erect and dismantle scaffolding or ladders according to OSHA and company safety protocols.Follow all regulations and best practices for chemical handling, waste storage, and disposal.Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.Communicate clearly with field managers and customers regarding project status and site conditions.Other related duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED, technical school, or trade certification accepted).2–3 years of experience in the construction industry with demonstrated drywall and/or painting expertise.Valid driver’s license for 3+ years and insurable under company policy.STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCEDemonstrate craftsmanship, accuracy, and efficiency in every project.Maintain professionalism and clear communication with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.Show initiative and problem-solving ability while working independently or as part of a team.Meet or exceed project timelines and quality expectations.Adhere to Stancil’s policies, safety standards, and attendance requirements.Display reliability, consistency, and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.Work collaboratively with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold Stancil’s reputation for excellence.Maintain openness, candor, and trust in professional relationships.Typical work hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONSWork performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including active construction sites.Exposure to a variety of weather conditions such as heat (above 90°F), cold (below 32°F), and precipitation.Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and use of hands to handle tools and materials.Regularly required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; must be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.May require travel between sites or extended time operating company vehicles (up to 2+ hours).Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.BENEFITS401(k) Matching (100% up to 1st 4% deferred)Dental InsuranceEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Health InsuranceUp to $500 annual employer HSA match (HDHP enrollment required)Life Insurance (Group & Voluntary)Paid Time OffVision InsuranceMaternity/Paternity LeaveCompetitive salary + Bonus potentialTOOLS AND EQUIPMENTConstruction tools and equipment including scaffolds, ladders, paint sprayers, rollers, brushes, and sanding tools.Digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, or computers for job tracking and communication.Note: As in any Job Description, this description, including the list of essential functions, is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, as conditions require.
