Job summary

Clayton Homes in the United States is seeking a Drywall Department Home Building Team Member. You will perform drywall finishing, mud mixing, sanding, and painting touch-ups to meet quality standards and production schedules.

You will work in a team, follow safety procedures, read architectural drawings when possible, and support planners with material shortages and maintenance needs. This is a full-time role with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Willing to transfer into various departments as needed.
  • Able to adapt to fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physical duties.
  • Clear communication with team members.
  • Ability to read architectural drawings is helpful.
  • Able to stand or walk 8 hours; bending, squatting, stooping required.

DRYWALL DEPARTMENT HOME BUILDING TEAM MEMBER:

Home Building Team Members build homes for families. Each department within the facility has specific tasks to perform to build a complete home. Every position follows standard production methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

EXAMPLES OF DEPARTMENT TASKS:

Drywall Department Tasks Sheetrock Finishing Drywall Mud Mixing Drywall Sanding Painting Touch Up Essential Tool Knowledge Mud Knife and Pan Utility Knife Production teams ensure that all homes meet sales orders, prints, specifications, and building codes, while ensuring a high-quality standard in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safety: Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while observing all relevant OSHA regulations.
  • Productivity: Work in a team environment to produce products that conform to our quality standards while achieving our productivity objectives.
  • Stewardship: Serve as a good steward of our company’s physical assets, protecting them from damage and misuse, reporting all needed maintenance, keeping your assigned area clean, and orderly.
  • Planning: Assist your Team Leader and Area Coordinator to plan and organize the manufacturing activities in your area by communicating anticipated material shortages, identifying required tool maintenance, and communicating any quality and productivity issues.
  • Attendance: Meet all attendance requirements, available for start of shift at required time, following the attendance rules and regulations of the division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Versatility and willingness to transfer into various departments when necessary.
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and lift at least 50lbs, as well as other physical duties as needed.
  • You must be able to communicate efficiently and clearly with other Team Members.
  • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings greatly desired.
  • Must be able to walk or stand at least 8 hours Bending, squatting, and stooping are required Must be able to lift above should level and reach to floor using proper lifting techniques
