Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Dry Utility Project Manager in California to oversee the design and construction of energy infrastructure projects and to expand client relationships. You will manage project portfolios valued between $3M and $7M annually, grow repeat business, and coordinate across utility, energy, and infrastructure programs.

The role requires leadership, technical guidance, and experience in utilities and public infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of project management experience in energy, utility, civil infrastructure, or related engineering consulting.
• Experience managing client portfolios with annual revenues between $1M and $3M.
• Proven success generating repeat business and expanding client accounts.
• Established relationships within utility, public agency, energy, pipeline, electric distribution, or related infrastructure markets.
• Experience developing proposals, negotiating contracts, and securing professional services work.
• Strong understanding of consulting metrics: utilization, realization, backlog, revenue forecasting, profitability.
• Knowledge of AI, automation, and digital delivery technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client satisfaction across multiple projects.
• Lead matrixed project teams to deliver milestones on schedule and within budget.
• Provide clear direction to engineering, design, and construction teams.
• Monitor KPIs, critical path activities, project risks, resource loading, and issue resolution.
• Analyze project and portfolio performance, including financial metrics and profitability.
• Serve as primary client relationship manager for accounts and opportunities.
• Lead business development, proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Champion AI-enabled solutions to improve project delivery and reporting.
