Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Dry Packager Operator for the night shift to assemble mechanical units and sub-assemblies, using hand and power tools and operating equipment. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and cGMP standards in a manufacturing environment in the United States.

You will set up lines, monitor production, perform line changes, take samples for QA, maintain records, and collaborate with Supervisors and Maintenance to ensure on-time schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a chemical plant.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability and safety consciousness.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills.
  • Excellent reading/writing/speaking English skills.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions and multitask.
  • RCRA training or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety PPE requirements and procedures.
  • Set up lines and run to production schedules; perform line-changeovers as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and address failed checks.
  • Stage and unload railcars and tank trucks; take bulk samples for QC.
  • Conduct particle count tests and document results.
  • Prepare customer vehicles with sampling and paperwork; inspect MPOs.
  • Maintain accurate production records and batch logs.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Maintenance for equipment setup.
  • Monitor and assist packaging operators; stop line if QA issues arise.
  • Comply with cGMP and manage hazardous and universal waste per regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a Dry Packager Operator, night shift. The Operator will work under close supervision, assemble mechanical units or fabricated parts to make sub-assemblies or complete products within routine and repetitive assembly operations. Use various hand and power tools and operates equipment which may include jigs, dies, fixtures, templates, punch presses, riveting machines, circular shears, and drill presses in order to cut, file, fit, punch, ream, rivet, form, and/or assemble. Fit, align, calibrate, and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product requirements. Monitor quality of products and raw materials.

Shift Hours:

Monday - Thursday, 6:00 pm to 6:00 am

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: 1 - 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferable a chemical plant.

Skills/Competencies:
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Critical decision-making skills, creativity, multi-tasking ability

How you will thrive
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements while completing the assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring the lines are set-up and running to the production schedule in accordance to the work orders Understand line and pump configuration and be able to clean and inspect lines as well as perform line change-overs as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure that items that fail checks are addressed.
  • Stage and unload railcars and tank trucks.
  • Take bulk samples from both railcars and tank trucks and deliver to QC lab.
  • Take particle count samples and run particle count tests.
  • Prepare customer trucks to include sealing, sampling, and associated paperwork. Inspect and close MPO's.
  • Keep accurate production records.
  • Collaborates with Supervisors and Maintenance Personnel, to determine equipment set-up and operations.
  • Monitor and assist assigned packaging operators.
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Department to understand, recognize and rectify quality issues. Has the authority and responsibility to stop the line and notify QA of a contamination event.
  • Ability to perform the duties of both a packaging operator and material handler.
  • Comply with all cGMP requirements.
  • Manage hazardous and universal waste according to local, state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
WORKING CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to both extreme heat and cold. Typical of production area: occasional noise, heat, fumes and dust.
