Job summary

The Headway Technologies facility in Milpitas, California, seeks a Dry Etch Process Development Engineer to develop and implement RIE, IBE and Ashing processes for next-generation magnetic recording heads. You will design experiments, analyze data, and present findings to improve manufacturability and yield.

You will qualify new tools, work with process and equipment teams, and supervise technicians to ensure accurate execution while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Three years of experience in magnetic recording heads, hard disk drive, or semiconductor as a Process Engineer.
• Experience in plasma etch process development (RIE, IBE, Ashing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements new dry etch processes (RIE, IBE, and Ashing) for next generation magnetic recording heads.
• Implements new process control schemes to ensure product manufacturability.
• Designs and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and develops recommendations to improve performance and yield while reducing scrap.
• Oversees tool qualification and supports process integration with other teams.
• Ensures safety policies are followed and processes are introduced on schedule.
