Job summary

Champaign Unit 4 Schools seeks a Drumline Director for Centennial High School for the 2026-2027 season. The role involves leading drumline rehearsals, teaching percussion technique, and coordinating with the Band Director for performances and competitions.

The position offers differential pay and is intended for coaches with experience; interviews may occur after August 18, 2026. The Athletic Director can provide schedule details and questions may be directed to the school’s administration.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (preferred).
• Background and experience in percussion, drumline, marching band, or related student performance activities.
• Ability to teach percussion technique, musicianship, timing, and ensemble performance.
• Experience working with high school students (preferred).
• Possess good human relations and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead drumline rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and competition preparation in coordination with the Band Director.
• Teach safe and appropriate percussion technique and establish expectations for student preparation, attendance, conduct, and equipment care.
• Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, travel, and competitions and comply with District safety and student-accountability procedures.
• Assist with percussion music, staging, equipment inventory, setup, storage, transportation, and maintenance planning.
• Collaborate with the Band Director, other program staff, families, volunteers, and building administration.
