Job summary

Conexon, a fast-growing fiber telecommunications company, seeks a Drop Technician in Eastman, GA. The role installs FTTP drops and NIDs, maintains inventory, and coordinates with warehouses and technicians across the territory.

You will install aerial or buried drops and ensure timely service restoration. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, strong computer skills, and comfort operating splicing and field equipment.

Qualifications

• Able to operate forklifts, trenchers, plows, and bore machines.
• Willingness and ability to travel and work nights/weekends.

• Physically able to lift up to 100 pounds and work outdoors in various weather.

Responsibilities

• Survey work area to assess obstructions and plan installs.
• Contact customers before starting work and maintain professional communication.
• Install FTTX drops to homes and businesses.
• Restore services after trouble tickets and dispatch.
• Manage inventory between warehouses and project sites.
• Operate trenching, plowing, and boring equipment.
• Assign equipment and materials to crews and customers.

• Meet project timelines, including some weekends as needed.

This role's primary responsibility is to install, maintain, and repair customer FTTX drops/NID's. They will be responsible for maintaining inventory between technicians and warehouses throughout the territory. The Drop Technician will typically install aerial and/or buried service drop cabling, and network interface devices (NID) to customer homes and businesses.

Requirements

• Highschool diploma required

• Initiative to work remotely with limited supervision
• Strong leadership skills.Overtime outside of normal workday hours may be required

• Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Surveying the work area to assess possible obstructions (water, gas, etc)
• Make contact with customers before starting any work
• Understanding of 811 paint marks
• Installing FTTX drops to customer homes and businesses
• Assures customer services are restored after trouble ticket dispatch
• Understanding Conexon builds mapping
• Operate machinery including trenching, plowing, and bore equipment for burying cable
• Assigning equipment and material to warehouses, technicians, and customers
• Assuring proper inventory is maintained at each project location
• Documenting assignment of inventory within inventory system
• It is our responsibility as a company to meet timelines that we as a company may fall behind on. Some weekends may be required to meet these timelines
• Track footage and materials used per job.
• Understanding to report to management and the owner of the property when any kind of damage occurs
• Following Conexon's vehicle policies and guidelines
• Keeping up with vehicle/equipment maintenance and cleanliness
• Understanding of restoration work which will include but not limited to yards, houses, and other personal property of the customers
• Taking photos to document work site covering all areas
• Responding to coordinators and dispatch in a timely manner when they reach out
• Understanding of pole/strand drop attachments
• Other duties as assigned by management

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend stoop kneel Crouch or reach as required by job tasks etc.
