Job summary

Skydio, a leading US drone company, is seeking a Wireless Software Engineer to reimagine WiFi and cellular links for autonomous drones. You will work with chipsets, low‑level firmware, and software to extend range, improve reliability, and deliver high‑quality video streams in challenging environments.

You will design and optimize WLAN, LTE, and 5G wireless software, implement system‑level algorithms, and collaborate with RF, hardware, and systems teams to meet performance KPIs.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of WLAN and/or cellular protocols including OFDMA and mesh networking.
• Firmware development with a solid foundation in wireless communication systems.
• Proficient in C++, C and Python.
• Strong software engineering skills including design, implementation, and performance tuning of wireless features.
• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex issues spanning multiple layers, including hardware.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams including RF, Hardware, and Systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver longer range, faster connectivity, and secure data transmission.
• Develop a new communication protocol for mesh drone communication.
• Design and implement solutions for OFDMA-based mesh networks.
• Design, develop, and optimize wireless software and firmware across WLAN, LTE, and 5G.
• Implement and validate system‑level algorithms to meet KPIs under dynamic networks.
