Job summary

Service Robot Co. is seeking a field‑oriented technician in Santa Maria, CA to install, repair, and maintain drones and docking stations at customer sites. You will diagnose faults, repair components, update firmware, and perform regular maintenance while documenting work and parts usage.

The role requires travel, outdoor work, and occasional overnight trips, with paid per work order compensation. Training includes online coursework through the Service Robot Co.

Qualifications

• Experience with electronics repair, RC or FPV drone building, avionics, low-voltage systems, or similar hands-on work.
• Patience with small parts and precise repairs.
• Methodical approach to finding faults.
• Accurate records and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in drones, docks, and charging systems.
• Repair or replace propellers, motors, ESCs, batteries, gimbals, and cameras.
• Update firmware and calibrate equipment.
• Complete scheduled maintenance and inspections.
• Follow lithium battery procedures for storage, charging, transport, and disposal.
• Record faults, repairs, replacement parts, and follow-up work.
• Keep spare parts available and report recurring problems.
• Explain repairs and next steps to customers.

The role

Install, maintain, and repair drones and their docking and charging stations at customer sites.

What you will do

Training

You will complete an online course through our Service Robot Co. Academy, followed by in-person training and the industry certifications needed for this role. The Academy is certificate training that we subsidize. Your first job is paid, with a specialist supporting you remotely.
