Job summary

Salyersville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Resident Transport Driver to safely transport residents to medical appointments, activities, and outings. You will assist residents with transfers, manage mobility devices, and ensure proper restraints and seat belt use while maintaining logs and following HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities include vehicle safety checks, communication with nursing staff, and adhering to facility policies.

Qualifications

POSITION PURPOSE

The Resident Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from scheduled medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.
• Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices.
• Ensure all residents are properly secured using seat belts or wheelchair restraints.
• Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the facility transportation vehicle(s).
• Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs including resident name, destination, and time of departure and return.
• Communicate appointment times and transportation schedules with nursing staff and administration.
• Provide courteous and respectful interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers.
• Follow all facility policies, infection control guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with additional facility-related tasks when transportation duties are completed, as assigned.

EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to assist residents with transfers when entering or exiting the vehicle, push wheelchairs and assist with mobility devices.
• Must be able to lift or move items up to 25-50 pounds when necessary.
• Must have/maintain a safe driving record.
• Must comply with all facility policies and procedures.
