Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. in Smyrna, TN is hiring a CDL-A Shuttle Driver to deliver full trailers to domiciles and return empties to the distribution center. You will ensure cargo is secured, inspect rigs, and log DOT-compliant data, working on a full-time overnight shift.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old.
• Valid CDL-A license with no serious violations.
• At least 1 year or 50,000 miles of tractor-trailer driving experience.
• This role requires reading, writing and understanding English at a functional level.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the rig for defects pre- and post-trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Secure product inside trailer to prevent damage during transport.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Occasionally perform line haul or backhaul.
• Work safely to prevent injuries and damage.
• Other duties as assigned.

This Shuttle Driver is responsible for the delivery of full trailers to the Domicile and taking empty trailers back to the Distribution Center.

What You’ll Do As a Shuttle Driver

• Inspect the rig for defects pre- and post-trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Ensure that product is secured inside the trailer for undamaged transport.
• Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations.
• May at times perform line haul and/or backhaul.
• Work safely to prevent injury to people and damage to products.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications You’ll Bring As a Shuttle Driver Teammate

• At least 21 years of age
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A)
• At least 1 year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor trailer driving experience
• Meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
