Job summary

JP Mascaro & Sons is seeking reliable Sanitation Workers/Drivers' Helpers for our Great Valley Division in Bridgeport, PA. You will assist the driver, back safely, collect curbside waste and recycling, and maintain a clean, safe truck and work area.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, physical stamina to lift up to 75 pounds, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. We offer a competitive salary and a family-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Show up for work on time with proper PPE and readiness.
• Partner with the driver to safely navigate the truck, especially in backing.
• Assist with collecting curbside waste and/or recycling safely and efficiently.
• Refer customer questions/concerns to the route supervisor promptly.
• Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections and truck cleanliness.
• Maintain professional conduct with customers at all times.

The position requires you to ride on the back of a trash truck and perform several essential roles, such as assisting the driver to safely navigate the truck and collect curbside waste and/or recycling in a safe and efficient manner.***Please note the following disabilities or medical conditions preclude you from being able to perform safely in this role. If you have any of the following conditions or disabilities, we encourage you to reach out to the Human Resources Department to determine if this role is a fit for you.• Seizure disorder(s)• Certain Sleep Disorders, such as NarcolepsyContact the Human Resources Department if you wish to request an accommodation or further discuss the above restrictions.***What You Will Do:Show up for work on time with all proper personal protective equipment and ready to go.Partner with the driver to safely navigate the truck, especially in backing.Utilizes proper hand signals to clearly communicate to the driver when backing and stays in the driver’s vision at all timesHelper will not ride on the truck step while backing.Collect curbside waste and/or recycling in a safe and efficient manner, placing containers back in their original location.Ensure any spilled or dropped debris is properly cleaned up.Ensure that any contact with customers is polite and professional.Refer all customer questions/concerns to their route supervisor as soon as practical.After receiving proper training, operates the packer controls to compact debris in the truck.When riding between pick up points, ride on the rear corner step only, utilizing the grab handle and keeping feet and body close to the truck body.Ride only short distances on the step (any distance over 2/10th of a mile, the helper will ride in the cab).Assist the driver with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and notify driver of any equipment problems.Assist the driver with ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and in a presentable condition at all times, in accordance with company standards.You Have:High School Diploma or equivalent preferredActive, Valid Driver’s License requiredAbility to stand, walk, lift and carry for long periods of time.Ability to lift 75 pounds.Ability to work outside in all types of weather.Ability to consistently lift, walk and climb onto and off of truck.Must be able to ride on the rear step of the truck while in motionWe Offer:Competitive SalaryHealth InsuranceLife Insurance401K with Company matchEligible for a Monthly Compliance BonusA fun, family environmentand much more!!For over 40 years, our motto has been "If it's service, it's us".
