Job summary

Southern Regional Technical College in Georgia is seeking an experienced Driver’s Education Instructor to teach classes in accordance with Joshua’s Law and Georgia DDS requirements. The role includes both classroom instruction and on-the-road training to help students obtain a Class C license.

The instructor will assess progress, coordinate curriculum and materials, prepare documentation, and ensure safety and program compliance. Collaboration with staff and adherence to standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Must become a certified Driver Training Instructor by DDS online training and pass the related exam.
• Background checks, driving history checks, and applicable pre-employment screenings.
• Experience in driver’s education preferred (classroom, driving range, and on-the-road).

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ driving skills and knowledge to provide feedback to students and administration.
• Coordinate driver’s education program, resources, and scheduling to meet grant guidelines.
• Instruct students in car control, defensive driving, safety, and road rules per Joshua’s Law.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a safe, productive learning environment.
• Prepare teaching materials and document grades, attendance, and progress.
• Report incidents and assist with scheduling and program logistics.
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development activities.
