Job summary

Landstar in Jacksonville is seeking a Driver Onboarding & Qualification Specialist to evaluate prospective independent Owner Operator drivers (BCOs) and equipment for FMCSA compliance. You will review applications, identify discrepancies, and coordinate with teams to resolve issues.

This role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high email volumes and multiple threads, ensuring timely, accurate data entry and communication.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Audit and process requests to qualify BCOs and equipment with Landstar, ensuring compliance with FMCSA regulations and guidelines.
• Review BCO qualification files to ensure required DOT documentation and information is complete, accurate, and properly validated.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, or inconsistencies and proactively follow up with the appropriate staff to obtain resolution.
• Effectively communicate with internal teams and prospective BCOs to support the onboarding process and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership to address questions, issues, or concerns related to a BCO's contract start with Landstar.
• Complete accurate data entry in various Landstar databases.
• Assist with handling inbound department calls, providing professional, courteous, and customer-focused service.
• Manage a high volume of email communication, often across multiple threads, while staying organized, prioritizing requests, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.

Salary: $19.00 - $20.27 per hour based on experience

What work will you perform?

As a Driver Onboarding & Qualification Specialist, you will play an important role in evaluating prospective independent Owner Operator drivers (internally referred to as Business Capacity Owners or BCOs) and their equipment to ensure they meet DOT regulations and Landstar's minimum qualification requirements. You'll review and audit application and qualification information, identify discrepancies or missing information, and collaborate with the appropriate teams to ensure outstanding items are addressed accurately and timely. This role is well suited for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of email and multiple group email threads. You'll be responsible for monitoring requests, responding within the appropriate email thread, prioritizing work, and following up to ensure requested or updated information is received, complete, and accurate. A strong eye for detail and the ability to recognize inconsistencies, research information, and follow issues through to resolution are essential.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• 1 year of customer service experience

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

• 6 months experience in auditing, quality control, or equivalent of both
• 6 months of transportation experience
• 6 months of administrative support

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams
• Ability to work in a time sensitive, constantly evolving environment
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and compare data; emphasis in audit/review
• Excellent diligence; ability to effectively pinpoint inconsistencies
