Job summary

Landstar in Rockford or Jacksonville is seeking a recruiting specialist to engage prospective Owner Operator drivers (BCOs), explain leasing requirements, and guide applicants from interest to submission.

You will handle inbound/outbound calls, build relationships, and help remove barriers to the application process. Travel to industry events may be required.

A background in customer service, recruiting, or sales is welcomed; HS diploma and six months experience required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build relationships and ensure a professional candidate experience.
• Coordinate Landstar at industry events and occasional travel.
• Document recruiting activities and maintain BCO records.
• Collaborate to improve the recruiting process.

Location: Onsite Rockford or Jacksonville

Schedule: Monday–Friday 8am - 5pm CST, 9am - 6pm EST

Salary: $19.50 -$21.39 per hour based on experience

What work will you perform?

In this role, you will be one of the first points of contact for potential Owner Operator drivers (internally referred to as Business Capacity Owners or BCOs) interested in leasing and onboarding with Landstar. You’ll connect with prospective BCOs through inbound and outbound calls, build relationships, explain Landstar’s leasing requirements and opportunities, and guide candidates through the application process from initial interest through submission. You’ll play an important role in keeping candidates engaged and informed, answering questions, addressing concerns, and helping remove barriers that could delay the application process. This position is a great opportunity for someone with a background in customer service, recruiting, coaching, sales, or call center operations who enjoys connecting with people and working toward retention goals.

• Present the Landstar leasing opportunity in a clear and engaging manner that encourages prospective BCOs to move forward with the application process.
• Make timely follow-up calls to prospective BCOs to encourage completion and submission of applications, answer questions, and address concerns that may cause delays.
• Meet or exceed monthly departmental goals related to calls, leads, completed applications, and leads referred to the Qualification Center.
• Manage daily inbound calls, outbound follow-up calls, emails, administrative responsibilities, and special projects while maintaining department and individual schedules.
• Build positive relationships with prospective BCOs and provide a professional, helpful experience throughout the initial recruiting process.
• Participate in the coordination, setup, and representation of Landstar at transportation industry and truck shows, including occasional travel.
• Accurately document recruiting activities and maintain BCO records for future reference, follow-up, and reporting.
• Collaborate with teammates and management to identify opportunities to improve the recruiting process and candidate experience.

Required Minimum Experience And Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Six months of call center, customer service, or an equivalent combination

Preferred Experience And Education

• Six months transportation and logistics experience
• Six months of recruiting and/or sales experience

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to engage and retain BCO's upon first communication
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
• Must be able to perform quality work with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational skills
