Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation is seeking a Driver/Material Handling Technician for a newly built Summerville facility. You will move and stage materials, operate cranes and forklifts, and support operations in a safety-conscious environment.

Requirements include US citizenship, ability to obtain DoD clearance, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. You will work in a team, read blueprints, and ensure accurate material handling and shipping processes.

Qualifications

• US citizen per DoD requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment and read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Move and stage raw material, in-process material, finished materials, expense materials and apparatus.
• Perform material moves, clean and preserve products, and assist team members.
• Perform packaging and preservation of materials for storage or shipping.
• Read and interpret detailed part and tool drawings; set up work areas and perform required operations.
• Obtain tools, fixtures and related equipment; perform work.
• Deliver and stage materials to designated locations; operate cranes, forklifts, hand trucks.
• Perform various part kitting and quality checks with measuring equipment.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area and work independently.
• Drive a light-duty box truck and work at offsite warehouse as needed.
• Transport inventory to/from offsite warehouse.
• Support team to facilitate warehouse operations.
• Observe safety and hygiene requirements.

Hourly: $21.01 - $30.50

Please note that the hourly range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in SC. Criteria such as the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.

Your Responsibilities:

• Move and stage raw material, in process material, finished materials, expense materials and apparatus.
• Perform material moves, clean and preserving products, and provide support to other team members.
• Perform hand tapping, cleaning, preservation, crating, packaging material for storage/ or shipping
• Receive job assignment with drawing and other necessary information, including oral or written instructions from appropriate supervision or engineers when required. Read and interpret detailed part and tool drawings. Set up work areas and perform required operations for any assigned work scope.
• Obtain all tools, fixtures and related equipment and perform work.
• Delivery and stage materials to designated plant / office locations as required.
• Safely operate bridge cranes, jib cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, etc. for material handling.
• Perform a variety of part kitting functions.
• Perform hand tapping, cleaning, bagging and preserving materials.
• Check work using proper measuring or gaging equipment as required.
• Working with wood and metal creating crates for various materials blocking, bracing, foam machine, circular saw, drill, banding materials, loading and unloading trucks.
• Keep equipment and work area in clean and orderly condition.
• Able to work alone and stay on task.
• Drive a light duty box truck and work at offsite warehouse without direct supervision.
• Transport inventory to and from an offsite warehouse.
• Any other functions needed to be performed to facilitate the team of the warehouse.
• Observe all safety and hygiene requirements as specified and directed.

What you Bring:

• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
• High School Graduate
• Must possess a U.S. driver's license.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment, read and interpret blueprint, layout and process worksheets, and effectively communicate with others.
• Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting them to a distance of 10 feet.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing computer systems.
