Melton Truck Lines in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Driver Manager to lead a group of about 50 over-the-road drivers, ensuring on-time delivery, high service levels and strong driver retention. The role is in-office, Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, and requires solid organizational skills and a proactive approach.

Candidates should have at least 2 years in customer service, dispatch, management or transportation, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college or additional training preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of customer service, dispatch, management, or transportation experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and solid computer/typing skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly, handle stress, pay attention to detail, and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manages about 50 drivers with focus on safety, productivity, and retention.
• Uses fleet systems to monitor activity and ensure on-time service.
• Coordinates pre-calls and directions.
• Manages drivers’ time in service and time off to maximize productivity.
• Identifies, investigates and documents service failures.
• Evaluates driver performance and handles disciplinary actions as needed.
• Coordinates and resolves driver issues with other departments.
• Investigates and recommends action on pay issues to supervisor.

Job description

The Driver Manager is accountable for managing a group of about 50 drivers with the dual goals of maintaining a high level of on time delivery and overall service and supporting driver needs. The position holds a high level of responsibility of service, productivity and driver retention.

This position is in-office/on-site, Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manages 50 over the road drivers in regards to:

• Safety issues
• Productivity
• Verbal dispatch of load assignments
• Home time
• Pay issues including driver advances
• Pre-plans
• ETA’s and PTA’s
• Maintenance issues
• Hours of service (logs)
• Trip planning / Routing

2. Uses Innovative System and Fleet Commander to monitor fleet activity to ensure on-time driver service.

3. Coordinates pre-calls and directions.

4. Manages drivers’ time in service and time off to maximize productivity and properly utilize equipment.

5. Identifies, investigates and documents all service failures.

6. Evaluates driver performance and recommends disciplinary action as required.

7. Coordinates and resolves driver issues with other departments.

8. Investigates and recommends action on additional pay issues to supervisor.

Requirements:

High school diploma required, college or additional training/schooling preferred.

Minimum 2 years customer service experience, dispatch, management, or transportation experience preferred.

Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and have solid computer/technical/typing skills.

Must be able to communicate clearly, handle stressful situations and pay close attention to detail. Must also be able to work and perform as a team player. Must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and manage a diverse workforce.
