Job summary

City and County of Honolulu's Department of Customer Services, Division of Motor Vehicles, seeks a Driver License Examiner I for O'ahu locations. You will administer written and vision tests, conduct road performance assessments, and determine eligibility for driver license categories 1 through 3.

Responsibilities include testing, licensing, verification of identity, fingerprints and fees, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Two years of supervisory or driver-training related experience.
• Equivalent to high school graduation.
• Must possess a valid Type 3 driver’s license.
• No moving violations in the past 3 years (certified traffic abstract).

Responsibilities

• Administer written and oral driver license examinations, record results, and notify applicants of outcomes.
• Conduct vision screenings and determine fitness to operate a motor vehicle.
• Inspect test vehicles, observe driving performance, and determine pass/fail based on safety criteria.
• Issue licenses by verifying identity, collecting fingerprints and fees, and validating eligibility.
