Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is seeking a Supervising Driver License Examiner I at the Pearl City CDL Office to supervise the CDL program and the driver license activities of examiners and clerks at CDL stations.

You will lead section operations, interpret regulations, oversee licensing decisions, and ensure accountability while maintaining safety and compliance across the CDL program.

Qualifications

• Equivalency to high school graduation; related experience may substitute.
• Three years of supervisory or driver-licensing related experience.
• Valid CDL A with all endorsements at time of application.
• Current certified traffic abstract may be required at interview.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise staff; assign and schedule work; set performance standards; evaluate employees; oversee training programs.
• Interpret and implement laws, rules and regulations; develop operational policies; ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Interview and evaluate applicants; determine eligibility including medical fitness; oversee licensing decisions.
• Resolve applicant concerns; respond to inquiries; prepare statistical reports and support budget planning.
