Job summary

State of South Dakota is seeking a Driver License Examiner for the Driver Licensing section in Sioux Falls. This full-time position involves processing license applications, administering tests, and providing information to the public; travel to other exam locations may be required.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma (preferred), knowledge of the SD driver's manual, basic computer skills, and the ability to work under pressure with courtesy.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma is preferred.
• Knowledge of South Dakota driver's manual requirements pertaining to the safe operation of motor vehicles;
• Knowledge of motor vehicle operation;
• Knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Process license and identification card applications; compute and accept license and identification card fees; issue receipts and maintain records of transactions.
• Administer eye examinations, written exams, and drive/skills tests to ensure qualified residents are issued a license.
• Provide assistance and information to the public and other agencies; respond via direct, telephone, and mail contact.
• Fill in and verify data on license and identification card applications; enter information; compile and tabulate data; verify accuracy of computations and entries.
• Count and balance cash, credit card, and checks and reconcile with program totals.
• Travel to other exam stations as needed and be prepared for overnight stays.
