Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is seeking six Driver License Examiner I positions on O’ahu to administer written and vision tests, conduct road performance assessments, and determine applicant eligibility for license categories 1–3.

Qualifications

• Citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or eligible for unrestricted employment.
• Equivalent to graduation from high school; education may be substituted by responsible work experience.
• Two years of supervisory, driver training instructional, regulatory or related experience, including one year of frequent public contact.

Responsibilities

• Administer written and oral driver license examinations and record results; notify applicants of outcomes.
• Conduct vision screenings to determine fitness to operate a motor vehicle.
• Inspect roads tests, observe performance, and determine pass/fail based on safety and regulatory criteria.
• Issue driver licenses and verify identity, collect fingerprints and fees, and validate out-of-state license eligibility.
