Job description

Driver Leader at Hirschbach

As a Driver Leader with Hirschbach, you will oversee the operations of an assigned fleet of drivers to maximize productivity, utilization, and retention. You will monitor operator activity and oversee day-to-day driver service to ensure best-in-class service.

What you will do:

1. Communicate with drivers, promptly answering calls, emails, and messages to ensure proper communication and minimize hold times.
2. Send pre-plans to drivers and secure load commitments promptly.
3. Complete loaded and empty calls.
4. Track operators’ performance from dispatch to delivery to ensure on-time service.
5. Manage operator availability and update drivers’ PTA accurately.
6. Optimize performance of assigned drivers, including on-time pickups and deliveries, HOS compliance, and scheduling preferences.
7. Build and maintain positive relationships with operators and team members.
8. Coach drivers to improve performance and provide necessary training.
9. Collaborate with Safety to ensure policy compliance and effective coaching.
10. Identify and address issues with settlements or pay by working with Driver Payroll.
11. Attend meetings and occasionally visit terminal locations.
12. Manage driver availability to maximize fleet productivity.
13. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

Talent Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Ability to process information accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
• Proficiency in computer skills and navigating multiple programs.
• Demonstrate a proactive, motivated attitude and a desire to learn in a dynamic environment.
