Job description

Driver Leader at Hirschbach

As a Driver Leader with Hirschbach, you oversee the operations of an assigned fleet of drivers to maximize productivity, utilization, and retention. You are responsible for monitoring operator activity and ensuring day-to-day driver service aligns with Hirschbach's standards of excellence.

What you will do!

• Communicate with drivers promptly via phone, email, and messages to ensure clear communication and minimize hold times.
• Send pre-plans to drivers and secure load commitments efficiently.
• Complete loaded and empty calls.
• Track operators’ performance from dispatch to delivery to ensure on-time service.
• Manage operator availability and update drivers’ PTA accurately.
• Optimize performance of assigned drivers, including on-time pickups and deliveries, HOS compliance, and scheduling preferences.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with operators and team members.
• Coach drivers to improve performance and provide necessary training.
• Collaborate with Safety to ensure policy compliance and effective coaching.
• Identify and address issues with driver settlements or pay by working with Payroll.
• Attend meetings and occasionally visit terminal locations.
• Manage driver availability to maximize fleet productivity.
• Perform other duties as assigned, proactively supporting organizational objectives.

Talent Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Ability to process information accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Proficiency with computer programs and navigating multiple systems.
• Demonstrate a proactive, 'All In to Win' attitude with motivation and a desire to learn in a dynamic environment.
