Job summary

Airgas in Angleton, TX is seeking a Shuttle Driver to transport compressed gas cylinders between Airgas branches and customer sites. The role requires a valid TX Class A CDL with Hazmat, Airbrake and Tanker endorsements, and physical ability to lift 25-75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Valid TX Class A CDL with Hazmat, Airbrake & Tanker endorsements.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Ability to obtain forklift operator certification.
• At least 1 year of Class A driving in last 5 years with clean record.
• Must be 21+ years old and able to pass safety credentials.
• Ability to lift 25–75 lbs and occasionally more with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load/unload gas cylinders and supplies daily.
• Maintain courteous relationships with customers and support timely deliveries.
• Safely secure cylinders and complete deliveries to customer sites.

As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided tractor trailer, straight, or box truck. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while frequently connecting with Airgas customers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies
• Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers
• Support deliveries in a timely manner
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; we emphasize the physically active and hands-on nature of this position.
• Drivers will frequently move in and out of their vehicle

Required Qualifications

• Valid TX Class A Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat, Airbrake & Tanker endorsements.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Ability to obtain forklift operator certification.
• One (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years with a clean driving record (no more than two (2) convictions OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years).
• Alternatively, a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years may be considered.
• Must be at least 21 years or older.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary safety credentials for customer site access.
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
