Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Class B Driver to join our team, delivering essential services with enthusiasm and professionalism. As a Class B Driver, you will operate various commercial trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, to manage recycling collection and transportation efficiently. Your role is vital in supporting recycling operations, ensuring timely pickups, safe driving practices, and excellent customer service. This position offers an opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic environment while adhering to safety and traffic regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class B commercial trucks such as front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks to collect and transport waste materials.
  • Load and unload materials manually or using mechanical equipment like front-end loaders or hydraulic lifts.
  • Follow designated routes while complying with all traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and state transportation laws.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including air brake systems and mechanical components, to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Adhere to hazardous materials regulations if/when handling special waste types and ensure safe containment during transport.
  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs.
  • Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads transported, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with safety protocols.
Requirements

  • Knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocols, and hazardous materials regulations related to recycling.

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor in outdoor environments for extended periods.
  • Strong understanding of recycling practices and procedures.
  • Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive driving techniques to ensure safety at all times.
  • Prior experience working in outdoor settings with adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards is preferred.
Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or GED, preferred.
  • One to three months related experience or training, preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Reliable and excellent attendance.
  • Self-starter, maintaining performance standards while working unsupervised.
  • Displays friendly, helpful customer service with the public.
  • Must abstain from using illegal drugs and abuse of alcohol.
Language Skills

Ability to read, write and speak English. Read/write simple instruction, simple business reports, or memos. Communicate clearly with coworkers, vendors, customers and management team.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must be able frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of paper, cardboard and other recycling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and cold weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to dust, noise and fumes found in a shop environment. Approximately 80% of work time is spent traveling locally.
