Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to help Iowans obtain licenses and IDs. The role involves answering questions, administering tests, and ensuring compliance with REAL ID standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include evaluating eligibility, issuing documents, and supporting colleagues through training and knowledge sharing. This is a full-time, in-office position with occasional travel within the state.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to explain licensing and ID requirements clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and records review.

Responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for customer questions through phones and in-person interactions.
• Explain driver license eligibility and REAL ID requirements clearly.
• Administer and score driving examinations for motorcycle, car, truck, and CDL.
• Review state and federal records to determine issuance eligibility.
• Support teammates through knowledge sharing and training.
