Job summary

Maersk in Northlake, IL is seeking a driver’s helper to support daily trucking operations. You will assist the driver with loading and unloading, navigation support, and handling freight according to routes and schedules.

This role requires physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs, good customer service, English literacy, and teamwork. Overtime may be required; safety rules including TSA/OSHA will be followed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read a map and geographic knowledge of the area.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs unassisted.
• Must possess good customer service skills.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions well.
• Must have the ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Load the daily route onto the truck.
• Scan the daily route onto the truck.
• Assist driver with navigating to deliveries.
• Assist driver with carrying freight to a business or residence destination.
• Utilize manifest to pull route, stage freight, and assist Drivers to load and unload trucks.
• Material handling may include picking, packing, scanning, or counting products.
• Must ensure timeliness, packaging, and systems work is completed accurately.
• Identify and annotate overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D).
• Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, etc.
• Read and follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure safe and secure work environment including all TSA and OSHA guidelines.
