Job summary

Maersk is seeking an on-site Warehouse Helper in the United States Illinois region. The role supports drivers, loads and unloads freight, and uses manifests to prepare routes while maintaining safety and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include navigation assistance to deliveries, handling freight with pallets and equipment, and ensuring compliance with TSA/OSHA guidelines. Candidates should be reliable, team-oriented and able to lift heavy loads as required.

Qualifications

• Identify overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D).
• Safely operate forklift, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain safety per TSA and OSHA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The driver’s helper is responsible for assisting the driver in all day-to-day activities. this includes but is not limited to loading and unloading the truck, along with any other duties the driver may need.

Essential Functions

• Accurately load the daily route onto the truck
• Scan daily route onto the truck
• Assist driver with navigating to deliveries
• Assist driver with carrying freight to a business or residence destination
• Utilizing manifest to pull route, stage freight, and assist Drivers to load and unload trucks
• Material handling may include one or more of the following: picking, packing, scanning, kitting (as applicable), counting products and other like duties
• Must ensure timeliness, packaging, and systems work is completed accurately
• Identifying and annotating overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D)
• Safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jacks, etc.
• Read and follow detailed and defined instructions in a fast-paced environment
• Ensure safe and secure work environment including all TSA and OSHA guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Competencies

• Ability to read a map and general geographic knowledge of the area
• Ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted
• Must possess good customer service skills
• Must be able to work overtime as needed
• Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions well
• Must have the ability to work well with others
• High attention to detail required
• Must have the ability to work well with others with little supervision
• Must be able to lift 50+lbs. unassisted
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods. Position requires employees to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands, reach, bend, and lift objects above their heads. Employees must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and use pallet jacks and forklifts. The position requires regular use of a phone and a PC and reading and writing of various shipping documents.

Pay Range

$18.00 to $19.00 per hour

Monday through Friday

7am to 9am start time. 8 hour shift plus overtime.

• The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws
