Purpose

Assists Driver in delivering customer orders; assists in loading and off-loading product; or drives pilot vehicle for oversize loads. May deliver customer orders using a company van or pickup truck under 10,000 GVW. Work is performed under the direction of department supervisor or manager. Does NOT require a Commercial Motor Vehicle license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists with loading and appropriately securing product onto or inside delivery vehicle using motorized or non-motorized material handling equipment.
2. Drives pilot vehicle for oversize loads, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
3. Inspects and maintains delivery vehicles for safety and regulatory compliance.
4. Plans and paces work to meet productivity goals.
5. Follows safety procedures to prevent injuries; attends safety meetings; may suggest safety improvements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience, or equivalent education/training.
• Valid driver’s license.

Competencies

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to read maps, routes, and road signs.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to understand machine diagrams and system schematics.
• Knowledge of escort service regulations, basic math, and measurement skills.

Work Environment / Physical Activity

Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 200 pounds with assistance. Tasks may involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling. Must be able to climb into cabs, twist for visibility, and operate controls.
