Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Driver Hazmat III to safely transport hazardous materials and company products to customer and well-site locations. This role requires a Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement, strong adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations, and high judgment in variable field environments.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years driving experience preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) and all endorsements for assigned equipment.
• Must meet FMCSA/DOT requirements and maintain Driver Qualification File.
• Maintain Hours of Service (HOS) records with ELD or logs.
• Complete Hazmat and driver safety training within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned commercial vehicles and comply with company and DOT/FMCSA requirements.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; report defects.
• Verify loads, shipping papers, and load securement before departure.
• Safely load, transport, and unload hazardous materials following approved procedures.
• Maintain Hazmat, delivery logs, and equipment in compliant condition.
• Communicate delays, route changes, incidents, and customer issues promptly.
• Coordinate with customers and field reps to confirm delivery requirements.
• Manage complex routes and field-delivery issues while ensuring safety and compliance.
• Support transportation/field incident documentation and communication.

The Driver Hazmat III transports hazardous materials and company products to customer and well-site locations requiring the highest level of driver judgment, field readiness, customer interaction, and procedural compliance. Performs complex deliveries in variable field environments and follows additional well-site, customer, security, and product-handling processes.ResponsibilitiesSafely operate assigned commercial vehicles and comply with company requirements and applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements.Complete required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; report defects or safety concerns.Verify loads, shipping papers, product counts, delivery instructions, placards/markings, and load securement before departure.Safely load, secure, transport, and unload hazardous materials and company products using approved procedures.Maintain required delivery, inspection, Hazmat, and driver log/ELD documentation as applicable.Follow defensive-driving, PPE, safety, security, hazardous-material handling, and site requirements.Communicate delays, route changes, incidents, product discrepancies, equipment concerns, and customer issues promptly.Maintain assigned vehicle, trailer, and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.Obtain and maintain eligibility/authorization required to perform explosive-related transportation duties, including applicable ATF/BATFE Employee Possessor requirements.Maintain a valid Class A CDL with required Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) and all endorsements required for assigned equipment and loads.Meet applicable FMCSA driver qualification requirements and maintain required Driver Qualification File documentation.Remain qualified through the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and comply with all applicable U.S. DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements.Accurately monitor and maintain Hours of Service (HOS) records using the required Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and/or authorized manual logs, as applicable.Complete required company and regulatory Hazmat/driver training and refresher training within established timeframes, including General Awareness, Highway Transportation/Shipping Hazmat by Ground, Hazmat Safety, Security Awareness, Distracted Driving Prevention, Drug and Alcohol Training, and vehicle inspection training applicable to assigned equipment.Deliver hazardous materials and products to customer and well-site locations, including remote or variable field environments.Follow customer/well-site check-in, access, security, staging, PPE, product-handling, unloading, and delivery procedures.Assess site conditions before entry, unloading, or staging; stop and escalate when conditions, access, documentation, or instructions do not meet requirements.Coordinate professionally with customer and field representatives to confirm delivery requirements, product receipt, and documentation.Independently manage complex routes and field-delivery issues while protecting safety, compliance, product integrity, security, and customer service.Serve as an advanced resource or mentor for lower-level drivers as assigned and support transportation/field incident documentation and communication.Perform other duties as assigned.Alcohol training, and vehicle inspection training applicable to assigned equipment.Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.Understand and abide by safety guidelines.Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditionsApply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Class A Commercial Driver’s License.High school diploma or general education degree (GED).1 to 2 years of driving experience.
