Job summary

Wendell Foster in Owensboro, Kentucky is seeking a Full-Time Driver in our Transportation Department to join the team of #DifferenceMakers. This role requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving, and the ability to transport individuals with disabilities; you’ll perform pre- and post-trip inspections, keep vehicles clean, and coordinate routes with dispatch.

Qualifications

• Possess or obtain First Aid and CPR certifications (training provided).
• Knowledge of vehicles, specifications, and vehicle maintenance; ability to drive vehicles used to transport individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and complete Daily Report.
• Ensure vehicles are clean and properly stocked with equipment daily.
• Transports passengers via safe routes and adheres to policies.
• Coordinate transportation routes with dispatch and manage assigned routes.

What matters to us:

• Per insurance requirements, must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age
• Knowledge of vehicles, specifications, and vehicle maintenance, including vehicles used to transport individuals with disabilities
• Valid driver's license, insurable driving record, and ability to drive facility vehicles required
• Possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications (training provided)

Essential Functions:

• Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections while completing a Daily Report to include maintenance issues
• Ensures assigned vehicles are clean inside and swept out at the end of the day, along with other end-of-day procedures
• Ensures vehicles are properly equipped and stocked with required equipment and supplies each day
• Transports passengers according to the safest and shortest route possible
• Assists with the coordination and assignment of transportation routes and provides information to dispatch
• Possesses knowledge of, implements, and maintains approved routes
• Adheres to written instructions and policies concerning passengers
• Maintains and uses the current and approved manifest
