Primary Responsibilities
- Operate a tractor‑trailer with one or more trailers.
- Perform Pre‑Trip and Post‑Trip functions.
- Deliver trailers to designated cities or destinations.
- Pick up backhaul merchandise.
- Have all Bills of Lading signed by the store's representative (customers, backhaul and common carriage).
- Collect and return checks on C.O.D. orders.
- Deliver any common carrier merchandise.
- Deliver and unload merchandise at customer stores, by hand when necessary.
- Complete all required paperwork (DOT logs, manifests, trip reports and fuel reports).
- Provide excellent customer service skills.
- Manage customer merchandise in a timely and safe manner.
- Take direction from Supervisor.
- Maintain excellent attendance and reliability.
- Adhere to DC housekeeping guidelines.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Class A license and HazMat endorsement; doubles required.
- Adhere to all DOT requirements and be willing to perform Shuttle Driver functions.
- Past two years minimum tractor driving experience; preference for pulling double trailers.
- Willing and able to work as needed, including overnight stays.
- Excellent driving history.
- Commitment to high safety standards and to comply with all safety policies and practices.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Ability to interact effectively with other departments and all levels of management.
- Attention to detail and demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain records accurately.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Team player with a can‑do attitude.
- Can read, write and speak English.
