Job summary

Peak Utility Services Group in Massachusetts is seeking a Driver I to support field crews on construction, maintenance and repairs of gas, electric, and telecommunications infrastructure. You will drive and assist with equipment, perform safety checks, and help manage DVIR and logs.

Must have a CDL Class A or B, a valid driver’s license, and pass MVR/DOT and pre-employment drug screening. This non-exempt role offers pay between $27.00 and $32.00 per hour and growth opportunities within the

Qualifications

• One (1+) plus years experience working in construction.
• Possession of a valid State Driver’s License is required.
• A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B is required.
• Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check, a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen)

Responsibilities

• Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance work
• Assists equipment operators by swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions
• Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other industry tools
• Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
• Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truck
• Cleans and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
• Maintains paperwork during the day including DVIR and driver’s log book
• Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance

Pay Rate: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
• English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

• One (1+) plus years experience working in construction.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.
• Possession of a valid State Driver’s License is required
• A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B is required
• Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check, a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment drug screen

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
