Job summary

Fastenal Co. is seeking a full-time Driver (DOT - CDL) Class A in Wallingford, CT.

You will operate a late-model tractor trailer or straight truck, delivering from distribution centers to branches and customer sites, unloading at each stop and maintaining safety and cleanliness throughout the route. The role requires a CDL A, Health Card, HazMat endorsement (or ability to obtain), and strict adherence to DOT regulations and Fastenal safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must possess Class A CDL.
• Current Health Card or ability to obtain one.
• HazMat endorsement or ability to obtain one (US, Puerto Rico and Guam).
• Meet Fastenal driving record requirements.
• Strong knowledge of DOT Hours-of-Service and CDL regulations.
• Willingness to drive interstate routes across state lines.
• Commitment to safety, health and environmental policies as per company standards.
• Pass DOT drug and alcohol screens, road test, employment verification and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tractor trailer or straight truck in a safe, timely manner.
• Unload freight at each stop using hand, pallet jack, or forklift as needed.
• Deliver to Fastenal branches and on-site customer locations.
• Maintain clean and organized delivery areas and equipment.
• Use handheld scanner to document deliveries and invoices.
• Comply with DOT rules and Fastenal safety policies at all times.
• Participate in safety trainings and company environmental programs.
• Report defects or issues with equipment promptly.

OVERVIEW:

Find your future at Fastenal! Our distribution center is hiring energetic, team oriented individuals be on our transportation team! Working as a Full-time Driver (DOT - CDL) - Class A, you will be representing our fleet as you deliver from Fastenal Distribution Centers to branches and customer on-site locations. You will operate a safe, well-maintained and late model tractor trailer or straight truck. Delivery trucks are pre-loaded, in order of delivery, by warehouse employees prior to departure and you will be responsible for unloading the freight at each stop along your route; most routes average 10-12 stops. We offer established routes that may see periodic change based off needs of the company. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilizing a handheld scanner
• Unloading product from trucks by hand, pallet jack, or by forklift
• Providing excellent service to our branches and customers by delivering product in a prompt, efficient manner
• Interacting with our shipping and receiving departments
• Maintaining a clean work environment within our equipment
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of work area
• Inspecting and reporting defects or issues in equipment
• Complying with DOT and Fastenal safety regulations
• Complying with health, safety and sustainability rules and expectations
• Participating in activities and programs that help the company achieve health, safety and sustainability objectives
• Learning, passing, and practicing various environmental health and safety trainings

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Possess or are currently in progress of obtaining a Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Possess a current Health Card OR have the ability to obtain one
• Possess a current Haz Mat endorsement OR have the ability to obtain one (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
• Meet Fastenal driving record requirements
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the DOT regulations in regards to a CDL Driver
• Maintain DOT regulated Drivers Hours-of-Service
• Willingness to drive interstate routes across state lines

• Lift up to 60 lbs. and maneuver up to 150lbs.
• Successfully complete the required DOT drug and alcohol screens, road test, employment verification and background check

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior driving work experience
• Prior experience operating a forklift

COMPENSATION:

The base pay range for this position is $70,000 - 85,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
