Job Description

The Corrections Oversight Worker supervises inmates to ensure that meal and food items are prepared in accordance with production plans. They train workers, assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency, and are responsible for sanitation and safety standards. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client needs.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to preparation and production guidelines, review logs.
  2. Supervise inmates in food prep and tray assembly.
  3. Ensure timely meal service meeting all guidelines.
  4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
  5. Distribute recipes and train inmates in proper procedures.
  6. Ensure proper portions and dietary needs are met.
  7. Review daily population counts with staff.
  8. Follow security policies, secure storage areas and tools.
  9. Prepare work and sanitation schedules, ensure adherence.
  10. Assist with inventory, receiving, storing, and requisitions.
  11. Participate in meal assembly and storage following HACCP policies.
Qualifications
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Preferred: 1+ year in food prep or related work.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with inmates is a plus.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise inmates or team members.
  • Must obtain a food safety certification.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, follow safety procedures, and qualify for security clearance.

Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
