Job summary

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is seeking a Class A CDL driver for OTR routes across the United States. The role involves safely operating a tractor-trailer, loading/unloading as needed, and delivering to charitable partners while adhering to DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with current and valid DOT medical certificate.
• Candidate must have a good driving record.
• 1+ years tractor/trailer route delivery experience.
• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Experience with handheld route phone and/or electronic logging devices are desirable.
• Knowledge of DOT, state, and federal trucking regulations is required.
• Valid driver's license; clean driving record; 3 years of driving experience; must be insurable by company vehicle insurance provider.

Job description

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is the state’s largest hunger relief organization and one of the leading food banks in the Feeding America Network. In additional to vital hunger relief programs in our 21-county service area, we also operate Fresh Connect Central, a regional produce cooperative for Feeding America, serve as a contract reclamation site for Kroger Central Division, and are a staging site for FEMA disaster response.

POSITION DETAILS:

• Mileage Rate: $0.70 CPM
• Equipment: Late Model with Low Mileage
• $80 per full day, following the IRS-approved daily allowance.
• Prorated for partial travel days based on time away from home.
• Drivers must be away from their tax home overnight to qualify.
• First 2 hours are free (standard industry allowance).
• After that, detention is paid at $30 per hour.
• Daily maximum detention payout is $180 per day.

Essential Functions of Driver - Class A OTR:

The purpose of the Class A Driver is to safely and efficiently operate commercial motor vehicle in urban, suburban, and rural areas to transport freight. This position is an over the road position with the possibility of delivering to a wide variety of locations in the U.S. The position may require loading and unloading food products to charitable feeding partners and programs. All responsibilities and duties will further Gleaners’ mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Education and/or Experience of Driver - Class A OTR:
