Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic growth-oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end user markets throughout Georgia. We are seeking an experienced Class A Commercial Driver with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsements for our company. Previous commercial driving experience required and petroleum delivery experience is strongly preferred.

The position will base out of our Thomson, Ga warehouse and the typical schedule will be dayside Monday through Friday. To meet customer needs, there may be schedule flexibility. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

SUMMARY

The Driver, Class A with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsement is responsible for providing safe and courteous service while delivering quality petroleum products. This position will primarily drive a transport tanker trailer to deliver fuel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Operate truck as directed to transport petroleum products between the facility and multiple destinations.
  • Prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery and/or pick-up of petroleum products to ensure timely service.
  • Make deliveries of petroleum products in accordance with customer needs and company policies.
  • Maintain contact with home terminal/dispatch center to receive delivery instructions or notices of changes in route or schedule to meet customer needs and maintain safe operations.
  • Responsible for daily inspection of vehicle (pre and post trip), ensuring proper function of all safety-related features of the vehicle at all times, including refueling as needed.
  • Comply with all DOT, EPA, FMCSA, and company regulations.
  • Follow all department standard operating procedures.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and foster an environment where employee safety is a top priority.
  • Inspect/perform minor troubleshooting and repair of employer/customer storage tanks and dispensing equipment.
  • Be carded and maintain card at various terminals as needed for fuel delivery.
  • Maintain a clean presentation of the driver and vehicle.
  • Assist in the implementation of improvement projects or system enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and cost savings.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Problem solve issues as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment both inside and outside the commercial vehicle and other company equipment or property.
  • Complete preventative maintenance or follow maintenance procedures as prescribed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other (Non-Essential) Functions

Includes functions normally performed by persons holding this title but may be assigned to other employees as part of a “Reasonable Accommodation” under the ADA.

  • Crosstrain to assist in other departments.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Required and responsible for employee safety, attending safety training, complying with all company safety and work policies, and reporting all accidents/injuries immediately to their Manager and/or HR Department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The minimum education required is a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years experience in commercial driving or equivalent combination of education and experience. Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker Endorsements required. Forklift experience is a bonus. Previous petroleum delivery experience is strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Ability to read, speak, and write English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply principles of mathematics, work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker Endorsements and a satisfactory driving record.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer skills including Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Teams preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, use hands, reach; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch. May lift up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally, with assistance for heavier loads. Must navigate stairs/ladders, including heights over 40 feet. Visual acuity for data, inspection, and accuracy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

May be exposed to humid conditions, fumes, chemicals, heat, mechanical parts. Noise level low to moderate. Outside conditions with weather exposure, extreme heat/cold.
