Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a CDL Class A Driver for weekday day shifts, home every night. The role involves operating diesel straight trucks and trailers to transport steel products, with DOT compliance as a priority and a competitive hourly wage of $28.56.

The ideal candidate has a Class A CDL (Tanker/HazMat a plus), 1+ year of experience, and proficiency with smartphone/GPS, Microsoft Office, and SAP. Jointly, you’ll uphold safety, accuracy in logs, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL (Tanker and HazMat endorsements are a plus).
• Minimum of one year experience operating large mobile equipment or hauling vehicles.
• Comfort using smartphone/GPS technology.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; SAP experience is an asset).
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and load restrictions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Flexibility to work in various weather conditions.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate diesel straight trucks and tractor/trailers (roll-off, dump, and van trailers).
• Pick up and deliver steel products and materials to suppliers and customers.
• Follow established procedures while ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations.
• Read and work from invoices, shipping tickets, and electronic instructions.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, and inspection reports.
• Assist with loading/unloading, secure loads properly, and ensure safe transport.
• Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform routine vehicle cleaning and basic upkeep.
