The Bus Driver position exists to provide safe, reliable, and customer-focused transportation services through Physical Plant’s Motor Pool. This position supports university shuttle operations, athletic travel, academic programs, admissions events, special campus events, and other transportation needs essential to university operations. The position is responsible for operating university buses in accordance with all federal, state, and university safety regulations while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include safely transporting passengers, conducting required vehicle inspections, maintaining assigned schedules, and supporting the University’s commitment to safe, efficient transportation services.
Reports to the Automotive Shop Supervisor. Responsible for: Safe operation of university buses and other assigned vehicles. Compliance with DOT, State of Maryland, and Salisbury University transportation regulations. Daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Reporting maintenance and safety concerns. Maintaining required driving records and documentation. Providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Supporting campus events, emergency transportation needs, and special assignments.
